After Multiple Joints Replaced And Compression Fracture Back Surgeries I Am Unable To Walk Without Walker. Anyone Overcome This Disability?
Have you tried hiking poles Suzanne? I couldn't walk 20 steps 4 years ago. I wouldn't be walking through airports last month had I not been eeking out 20 more steps a month training on hiking poles in the streets of my neighborhood. I also have to use gloves to help keep my grip on them, and ankle high hiking boots with extra thick padding for my plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. Its not easy, but I'm as tenacious as a tick on a mangy coyote, not letting go no matter how hard this disease scratches.😏
I’ve had 8 lower back and 2 neck surgeries. Used a walker for 6 weeks after each surgery but that’s all . But I’ve not had any joints replaced yet . Just be patient it may come with time . I use to walk 3 blocks with my walker every day to get stronger . If you have to use it , you have to use it . Better than falling and causing damage .
I also have multiple joint problems. With rods in my lumbar spine & neck and both hips replaced, it's tough going. There are days when I'm fine and there's days with the walker. The best answer I can give you is there are good * bad days, but you can overcome the disability. 😊
@Briab2 sounds like u need the electric cart. I saw documentary on homeless men racing shopping carts down very high hills and doin 75mph. They lean and drag one foot to turn.
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. There will be death if someone takes my shopping cart and it won’t be me!
