Does Weight Loss Help With Pain Symptoms?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Cantwell, AK

My boyfriend was diagnosed a couple years ago and is now in constant joint pain. He went from being a super fit, highly active athlete to not being able to take short walks without pain. This has contributed to his depression and mood swings, and also led to gaining about 40 lbs in the last year. Would losing that 40lbs start to help his symptoms? I am just at a loss with how to help him since I don’t understand the pain he lives with constantly so I joined this group to educate myself.
