Prednisolone Weight

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to deal with the bloatedness/perceived weight gain from Prednisolone?

I can just feel that I'm "puffy", in my face for instance. I exercise, a decent amount and eat reasonably well.

I have been on Prednisone, for over four to six years now. I am currently taking 20 mg per day, unless I flare up then I'm sometimes up to 90 mg and taper down so far hopefully no side effects that I am aware of. I have not gained weight but have lost a lot of weight but not sure what that's from.

Thanks Anne. That's good to hear. I'm currently on 15mg (which is why I think I'm feeling the weight aspect so much all of a sudden). I was on 10mg, then down to 5mg, then back up to 15mg, so hopefully I can get back down to 5mg soon and then feel better.

By the way, my puffy face has gone down since I've been below 5 mg of Prednisone

I've been on Prednisone for over 4 years. I'm down to 2 mg. A week from Saturday I'll be down to 1 mg. Two weeks from that I'm done with it and hope to never be on it again. I've gained 70 pounds on it and became diabetic. I hoped that goes away when I'm completely off. Hopefully my pain will improve so I can get moving more.
