Lidocaine Shots

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

Has anyone tried Lidocaine shots into the trigger points in muscles in the back? I had my first round and felt much better but it only lasted about 3 weeks.

It's not even worth your time for those shots, as you see many of us have tried it and those shots has failed because the shots don't last long enough, and lidocaine doesn't last long to begin with ๐Ÿ˜Š. Hope the information was helpful โ˜บ๏ธ

I've had nerve ablation- xray guided, nerve prednisone injections and just injections of prednisone and anti inflamatories. The ONLY THING THAT WORKED are the shots with anti inflammatory and prednisone! They last for a couple of months. Every other shot causes extreme pain and non use of leg depending on side they ablaze. I was in e.r. for the last one and WILL NOT GET ANOTHER NERVE ABLATION AGAIN!!! I lost the use of my left leg for a week! That pain was worse than both my children's births and they were long labors!

Agreed with all above. Iโ€™ve had bilateral neuroforaminal steroid injections that lasted 3 months but the second round did nothing. Just had bilateral SI joint injections that I actually got worse from. What helped the most were bilateral steroid injections into my hip bursa. Felt great for 3 months then crashed. Now have osteoporosis diagnosis so those will have to stop. Ugh!

I still get those as a normal injection regimen. It takes 2-3 days to kick in but they do help but also wear off quicker that what the doctor says they should last. Also trigger point injections with steroids, Botox. The Botox is a game changer for me. It does help however you can only get them every 3 months and yes it reduces muscle spasms muscle knots. And helps with the pain and inflammation. But as well it wears off before the doctor says it should last. But it allows me to do things that I wouldnโ€™t be able to do. Itโ€™s takes you from being on the go & getting things done & back to life to wearing off and on a heating pad and back in pain. And slowed you down to a snail pace. So at that point you have to pick and choose what you do because it will send you in a tail spin and you will be down a few days. My doctor said safely pick up 10 pounds only. Well, thatโ€™s easier said than done with general life from grocery shopping to doing laundry having kids and grandkids. He said nothing over a gallon of milk. Yeah right, no way possible to do that and live.
Life is tough when dealing with this problem we all suffer from here.
Praying for you all & wishing you all a pain free day & have a great day & enjoy!
Life is to short to let it pass you by.
