To get the best medical care possible, consider these tips from the knowledge base:

1. Know Your Policy: Understand the details of your insurance policy to avoid unexpected costs.
2. Check In-Network Facilities: Ensure the facility is in-network to avoid higher charges.
3. Consider Non-Hospital Locations: For procedures like colonoscopies or X-rays, use independent facilities or outpatient centers to save money.
4. Ask for Generic Medications: Inquire if a generic version of a drug is available and effective.
5. Search for Discounts: Look for coupons, reduced prices, or manufacturer programs for medications.
6. Scrutinize Medical Bills: Check your bills for errors, as 80% of medical bills may contain mistakes.
7. Take Detailed Notes: Request and keep detailed, itemized bills from your providers.
8. Confirm Coverage: Verify coverage and get preapprovals before any medical service.
9. Negotiate Costs: If insurance denies coverage, discuss discounts with your provider.
10. Ask for Help: Seek assistance from medical bill advocacy firms or others to find cost-effective care options.

These steps can help you manage costs and ensure you receive the best possible care.

I can't do all of that either, I was put on Social Security disability at 58 years old with cognitive problems, I'll turn 74 in a few months and I have to find some kind of help in trying to figure out health care and insurance/ Medicaid.
