Karen,

This tough medical journey can take awhile. It sounds much like many others here. Am I correct that your symptoms are more active on the Left side? Also, do you have neck stiffness and inflammation from the base of the skull to at least the middle of your neck?

If you use a phone or tablet, make sure your neck is aligned upright and not bent while using the handheld device. This well reduce headaches, neck pain, brain fog and eye pain. The torque on the neck can cause nerve impingement over time. It will certainly make symptoms worse for cervical AS.

Best wishes to you. I look forward to reading helpful medical care for you. This is hard. But, I'm so glad you found this website and the people to support you.

Eileen, it hurts to read another person struggling to receive quality, good care. Your writing indicates the neurologist's MRI images of your spine indicated a need for PT treatment. I am not a physician, yet, my personal and professional journey in life has acquainted me with thousands of medically challenged persons among those not easily diagnosed. Your are profoundly hurting with disabling issues. I don't know any doctors in your area. However, ask family and friends if someone could help do a Google search.
• Search for a doctor specializing in managing effective treatment plans for Ankylosing Spondylitis and rare diseases.
• Please include your health insurance in another search. Also, call your health insurance and request assistance in finding a primary care physician who is very good at effectively managing treatment plans for rare diseases. They will be biased toward physicians who help their profits. The health insurance staff do find it rewarding to help someone receive better medical care.
Please add this to your tool box of "finding helpful doctors."
During this long journey, please consult with a nutritionit in your area. They can help reduce some pain through food, homeopathic medicines, and over-the-counter medicines.
The following are things that I remind myself to do.
• Be patient and focus on what small steps result in positive changes.
• Find a hobby that you can do most days that is meaningful to you.
• Eat the portions of nutritional food that make you feel better.
• Spend some time with others who share in your interests.
• Likewise, spend time with family and neighbors who love you.
Reward yourself with these.
My days of brain fog and fatigue are partly caused by Rx interactions in addition to many progressing severe Ankylosing Spondylitis issues. These have resulted in weeks and months at a time of not being able to respond here. Please keep writing your questions and sharing your personal journey you are worth good health care. Others will also share their insight and support you.
