@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Please keep us posted how this surgery goes for you. I've had bilateral carpal tunnel for the past 12 years since first diagnosed. The ulnar impingement first began in 2005 and I've been managing to release it through physical therapy. Knock on wood, no nerve impingement pain in several years now, probably because I do a great deal less to none of the activities I once enjoyed so much. Part of chronic pain management for me has been, sadly, to change what activities I do. Such is as it is with aging with chronic conditions.πŸ˜’

I am glad you told me about the stem cells. I have only read about them, but I may have gone too far surgically for them to do any good. I think if I had it all to do over, I would have chosen maybe a holistic approach. There are a lot of snake oil salesmen out there, and maybe I would have been fooled by them, but maybe there would have been one that could have helped! We overdo ourselves in our jobs and, yes, I thought I was invincible, but too late I found out that my biggest enemy was myself!!!!!

I have had a L4-5 fusion in 2005, then went back to work. In 2019 I got in such a bad way with pain, that my orthopedic surgeon ordered another MRI, and yes, above and below my first surgery site was herniated!! Rheumatoid arthritis was in every joint in my body! So, the surgeon took out the old hardware and he then did a L2-S1 fusion which worked for a bit, then I had to retire early after 26 years of nursing, because of RA. Now, I have had another fusion at the lower end of my spine, but this time he went through through the abdomen (in the front). After 2 years, I now have both of my S-I joints fused, and a cervical fusion (neck). I now have more herniations but I refuse to have any more surgery, because ct and mri scans show my bones are losing density. I have headaches too, I thought were migraines and taking migraine medicine for, but now I probably know why that they are from my spine. You can’t get ahead of arthritis and its damage, I tried with surgery but I still hurt!
