Do People With As Commonly Get Choked While Eating Or Drinking?
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Yes, exactly like that. People frequently ask if I'm okay. My voice will stop entirely mid word or won't come out at all sometimes. Forget speaking up over background noise.
When I'm on prednisone it doesn't happen. And it seems less now that I've had the stem cell transplant into my C4-7s. It's inflammation and/or bone spurs (osteophytes) on my spine facets of the joints and/or herniated/bulging discs all pressing (impinging) the nerves. I have it affecting my walking gait too, vision, balance, leg control. For distance stability/gait/muscle control over pain i need a cane. All from a cervical spine s#!/ show if you'll pardon the expression.
So far Ive avoided surgery because there's nothing promising for a C2-T2 reverse curvature collapsing. Speech therapy, physical therapy, deep diaphragmatic breathing, keeping weight down, reading aloud and singing all help a lot. If you smoke or vape, stop. That makes it much worse.šš
That sounds exactly how I go from time to time it seems like Iām trying to cry/sob and talk at the same time does anyone else have this
Stenosis from cervical spine disease can impact the nerve that innervates the diaphragm, larynx, throat, and tongue. It can cause essential tremors that can make it difficult to swallow, speak, and take a deep breath. I have this and I'm sure many others here does well. Its a real pain in the neck. Ha! A pun! I didn't mean it, but I see it and will claim it. Gotta have a sense of humor with this mess. š
