How Many Of Y'all Have Had AS Go Into Your Knee And What Were Your Symptoms? What Doctor Would I Go To.
I have minor pain in my knee in the past. I did PT and all the shots and rooster comb etc. The thing that helped me the most was laser treatment. However, it is $75 per treatment. I haven't needed it for a couple of years. However, I was fine walking around this morning. I was on my computer for a bit. When I started to get up to walk, my knee was so painfully sore, I had to use a cane to slowly walk around.
Stem cell transplant therapy, called BMAC for Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate, is now an approved procedure by FDA, and, therefore, many insurers. Lasts a couple years, maybe longer, to repair/replace soft tissue in spine, hips, knees, or ankles depending on where the cells are injected. Read more about it on my homepage updates. I just had it done into my neck last week. Takes about 2 months for full benefit. Helps to keep body weight down if possible. ππ
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Hi Melody, to get to anyone's home page click the icon picture next to their name, in my case its the picture of the beach. That will pull up their homepage. Once there, where it says "updates", click for a drop down menu for them. You can begin reading about them with their "story". The updates will have everything they have posted since their initial info story. Scroll through, their posts will all be there, but will pause briefly after a few are shown. Keep scrolling after the pause for additional posts. I have many. π
I had my procedure done by an orthopedic spine surgeon. Those are the typical drs who do them. Make sure you choose a reputable surgeon. You don't want just anyone to do it. Call around to doctors in your area. I started my search by calling my insurance carrier to be sure they cover it. I asked them for authorized providers in my area, but their list of providers was not current and none of the ones listed were in business anymore or did not do it. Then I called a chiropractor who I knew did a different type, umbilical cord stem cells, and they told me that I needed to call an Orthopedic Surgeon to do the BMAC, Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate. They take your own bone marrow from your ilium and inject it where it is needed. There is a company in Texas called Celltex that banks your cells to grow more for future use. You can learn a lot about the process from their website Celltex.com. That is not who I used though. I used a local surgeon.
Here is a screenshot of a website you can look up for more info. Theres not a ton of info to find online because its still a relatively new procedure for orthopedic use. Its been used for a long time for cancer patients. Let me know if I can help you any further. I will be posting as I experience anything new from my own. I was told that it takes about two months to really notice improvements. New tissues dont grow overnight!π Good luck!
Also Pitac how do I get to your homepage to read about the stem cell treatment?
I have been looking for a while to find a place to get it done that accepts insurance. Can you please share where you had yours done. Thank you!
I feel as if it we're a really bad shin splint from ankle up... sometimes foot too.
I'm not sure if everyone feels it the same depending on many factors... i think.
