I Am Completely New To My Diagnosis. Has Anyone Had Issues With Inflammation Attacking Their Eyes As Well?
Yes. I recommend getting a really good ophthalmologist. Try to find one with good knowledge about uveitis. I was fortunate to see a uveitis specialist for my diagnosis then able to transfer to a local ophthalmologist who had good knowledge about the condition. A lot don't so be sure to ask. Goal is to get off steroid drops but unfortunately in my case every time we tapered off, my uveitis flared back up. So I am on a low dose drop for the rest of my life. All the steroids caused me to get glaucoma too so I had to have cataract surgery. Have they tested you for HLA-B27?
Never had it but very familiar. Family member had it. If you are referring to iritis you want to get it treated ASAP. If one eye is red, uncomfortable, hurts or sensitive to light shined in that eye, or hurts when light is shined only in the "good" eye then
see the eye doctor soon for "possible iritis." In addition, the pupil may be smaller in
the involved eye. You'll be treated with repeated dilating drops and steroid eyedrops. If you wait too long the pupil may start dilating and become immoble and you typically get glaucoma. So don't wait if you have AS and these eye symptoms.
I am already on steroid drops. Have been to the eye Dr 3 times and then a retina Dr once. That’s what led me to a rheumatologist
Can AS Affect My Eyes?
I Have Spondylosis Not Spondylitis Any One Else Have This As They Are Different
Is Spondylitis An Autoimmune Disease Too ?
