Good Morning.. Desperate for help!! Does anyone experience involuntary muscle jerks/spasms. Happening when I'm awake and wake me if asleep. Mine are from my lower back and legs.

Also magnesium seems to help along with medication and I also had full hip replacement and seeing some improvement

Yes, sorry you're going through this. Mine started on right side in my leg. SI joint and L5 were first notable areas. But, severe cervical AS wasn't diagnosed until age 55. The severe spinal stenosis meant that my spinal cord was impinged in multiple places. Inflammatory periods of the vertebrae makes the spasms worse. Over the years, spasms now occur everywhere: eye ligaments (stabbing pain) and anywhere else ligaments exist.

Best treatment plan: anti-inflammatory foods/Rx, stretching, regular movement, plenty of water, support here, find a pillow for the bed that best helps minimize spasm movement. Regularly exercise lightly to moderately when not inflamed. More can be added.
