What Apps Do You Recommend For Tracking Pain, Weather, Symptoms?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atlanta, GA

Today is definitely take it slow between the porch, couch and bed soon. Bad thunderstorms are coming in GA. My husband and I broke into a sweat at the same time on the porch which made me think about the barometric pressure again ( @A MySpondylitisTeam Member ). So I started searching for pain and weather apps. I ran across PainScale, Bearable, Manage My Pain etc. Has anyone tried an app that's helpful to pinpoint where our pain is possibly coming from?

Great question!

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member Yes! I did the same, both spreadsheet and database. Same conclusion, weather can increase or decrease symptoms but does not cause symptoms. More rapid pressure, humidity or temp changes (up or down) can make a difference, unless I already have low inflammation.

I did look for apps and found these fulfilling specific needs. The three listed below are worth trying.

The "Chronic Insight" app provides a fun way to show others your pain journal. Just don't get carried away with listing every symptom, use only 3--7 major symptoms. More will task your smartphone and confuse others. But, those of us with a SpA disease will immediately recognize your journey.

The "mySymptoms Food Diary" app works well for recording and helping you and your physician identify triggers for IBS and food allergies.

The "Medisafe" app provides a very good pill reminder and Diary with a couple ways to record pain levels. It provides other useful Rx info that includes a way to handle refilling medications.

These three are a good place to start in a search for an app.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member - thank for always providing useful information. I think you would be great in the Barbie World created by the one and only @A MySpondylitisTeam Member! I think I found a KenBrian2 just for you! I’m sure @A MySpondylitisTeam Member can fill in all the gaps I just left out 🫠

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member - I totally agree with you! 🤗 I find myself going down these rabbit holes like I did in the beginning - 13.5 years ago. I guess after starting the roller coaster of specialists again has me reverting back to old ways 🤷🏼‍♀️. I truly know better. I guess people asking me “what did you do?” when I’m flared up has me searching for answers that just aren’t there. I will & do focus on the beauty around me. Thank you for bringing back to what’s really important. 🤗

@JoshuaL,
I have to agree with you!! Instead of wasting time putting information in an app, look out the window and watch that storm front come in!! Yeah, you are hurting more...could be the storm coming in..looks like a big one.. somebody get me my pain meds..this storm looks awesome!!
I'm exaggerating a bit, but, I have to make a conscious effort to put this electronic mind sucker down..
pain and discomfort are a part of our lives. We do what we have to to get through our days.
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member, everyone is different, and we handle things differently. I personally wish I didn't have a cellphone or laptop . Nor am I very analytical. I just try to enjoy the moment that I can, because I know what is coming😢 but I am beginning to notice changes and tracking would only make things worse for me...

SherriLawler, I didn't mean to go all dark and weird in my response earlier. I've felt fine all day, sat down to get a drink, and now my I'm not moving without screaming. I just try to live in the moment, try focusing on just about anything but the discomfort.
