Do Biologics And Methotrexate Make You Lose Your Hair?
Anyone taking methotrexate, should double up on folic acid. A good rheumatoid Dr would advise this & I haven't heard of any mentions of this. Very vital & yes, it WILL help w/hair loss. Plus, a bonus, it's great for your brain. It helps w/depression & prevention of Alzheimers.
It didn’t for me , the only thing I’ve had issues with which my hairdresser pointed out, colours don’t always take when covering grey hair. I’m not sure if it’s the amitriperline or the methotrexate has I’m not on biologics now.
I have lost hair since taking MTX and now Leflunomide and Humira. I've taken Biotin but it's not really helping me. I have a swifter dry mop and I don't know who sheds more, me or my dog. I may ask about doubling up on the folic acid. I had cancer young in remission for 30+ years. I had giant bags of MTX over 24 hours and then the rescue which was both IV and at-home self-injections. Until the medication my hair was full, it's always been fine but it's wavey. Now it's awful and I wear a ball cap almost all the time. I wish someone would tell me how to not go completely bald. I'm not a vain person, but hair matters for women and men. Please don't suggest wigs because I have two. It's not a solution. Thank you so much and share what your situation is and if your doctors helped you and how? xo
Hi. I'm on Methotrexate injections and Sulfasalazine. My hair has thinned but seems to be settling now. I have long hair so might be more aware of it.
I am on the biological Simponi every three weeks and a weekly injection of methotrexate, my hair has actually gotten thicker and now has waves and curls. I think it may be different depending on a persons other health conditions and meds, but I’ve had no unusual hair loss at all.
Are Biologic Meds In The Same Family Of Medications As Tylenol And Antinflatory. I'm New To All Of This. Trying To Figure It All Out.
