Has Anyone Out There Had Surgery That Relieved AS Pain?
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Thanks for your reply Bradley. Yes, "exploding" or complete slip from spine is about rhe only way I'll opt for surgery. Too many horror stories for any other reason. I have a personal motto, no OR unless directly from the ER. π¬That said, I have several discs that are in rather precarious shape.
Absolutely, the 40 years of deteriorating lumbelar resulted in my L5 exploding on a jobsite and doing some beyond horrific things that led to almost 0 mobility. I had spinal fusion lamectemy 5 years ago and although tricky in it's own way, so much better than where I was. Definitely talking the various degrees of bummer π. Happy to have mobility back and at only 45, a long way to go with my AS.
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. You are one of the all too few lucky rare ones. Can you please elaborate on your surgery? When was it? What was done? What were your symptoms? How has it improved your condition? π
I have had a surgery due to the disintegration my spine, and it absolutely feels better. Different discomfort but better than pain in this variable array of discomfort to pain.
Yes, some people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) have had surgery to relieve pain. Although surgery is rare, it can be recommended for severe pain or when other treatments fail. For example:
