What’s Your Trick For Enjoying Holiday Treats And Staying On Track? 🎃
I don't change my food choices over the holidays.
I have a variety of health problems, some of which I manage with diet. As a result of small changes over the years, omitting foods that might exacerbate my symptoms, I have radically changed my palate.
I slowly reduced sugar and sugar substitutes. It took me a long time to get padt sugar cravings but, due to the gradual cut back, I no longer have a sweet tooth. Dates and fruits satisfy any desire for sweets.
For my husband's health, we stopped adding salt to food as we prepare it; at first food tasted bland, but now we are used to it and pre-prepared foods taste way too salty.
I eat almost no processed or pre-prepated food, so 'junk food' no longer even appeals.
These changes took place over years but at least now, I am pretty sure the foods I eat do not detract from my quality of life.
Sugar triggers my Uveitis and AS, but it's really bad for my eye flares, so it's no longer worth the few seconds of pleasure the treat gives.
Everything in moderation
Moderation and I stay away from the trigger foods.
Prep food in advance, stuff you can eat too. Prep and freeze breakfast casseroles,etc.. Use more gluten-free flour (I use King Arthur). Try new things in advance.
