Has Anyone Had PRP-plasma Rich Platelet Procedure Or Ablation Done In The Sacroiliac Illium Joints For Pain Management?

Yes, both. I had an ablation done to L4,5 & S1 which helped temporarily for perhaps a month, but everyone has different results. It may help you. I also had a PRP procedure and this did not help, for me, at all, unfortunately, BUT, like I said, that is me. Does not mean it won’t help you…I was willing to try anything & everything. So you should do what is best for you. 🥰

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Cannabis gummies. The only thing that doesn't stop inflammation, but diminishes the perception of pain. Not so much to lock me to the couch, just enoughbto take the edge off. Biologics gave me NAFLD and Chronic Kidney Disease so I can't take acetaminophen or ibuprofen. I'm allergic to codeine, 5mg makes me itch like I've been rolling in poison ivy.

That said, I didn't learn about the need to be off anti inflammatories until after I had bilateral hip bursae injections. Not enough is known according to my dr if it will affect it or not. Supposedly it won't affect the repair and growth of new soft tissue in my neck, but according to the literature it may affect the cytokine antagonists that stop the autoimmune part of my disease. My neck is crumbling C2-T2, collapsing and disintegrating discs out past facets. Theoretically the BMAC cells will generate new soft tissue, but they won't heal the bone, the spurs stay, but hopefully the inflammation causing stenosis diminishes or stops. Its a long shot because I have reverse curvature of the entire cervical spine. BMAC is done best by an orthopedic spine surgeon. Dont let just anyone do it. I've heard of chiropractors doing it. I wouldn't do that. Celltex Therapeutics has tons of webinars and info on it. I didnt go there, but will look into it if I get good results. 😌🙏

Thank you for your help and answer. I have not heard of BMAC but will do some research. My pain management Dr mentioned the PRP as another option but not a procedure he does. I must say that is a long time to go without some of the medications you listed considering the pain I have. How did you cope?

Not in the S/Is, I'm wanting it done there too. But I did just receive BMAC into 3 cervical spine joints a couple months ago. Its early to tell yet for sure, but I think it might be helping. I post frequently on this and you can find loads of details I experienced the past couple months since I had it under the updates section on my page. I read that BMAC has a higher percentage of historical success rate than PRP. I'm pretty sure I posted the source of that info. Please share with everyone if you do this. Its not a common therapy and more of us need to share what we learn and experience with everyone else. Its very promising. Make sure you are completely free of anti inflammatories in your system prior to the procedure and for at least 4 months afterward. For it to have the best chance of developing the anti inflammatory chemokines inflammation must be present in the body. I read that, unfortunately, after I had dual hip bursae injections. No nsaids, steroids, DMARDS, biologics, or supplements for 6 months, the downside. I didnt know. We'll know the results for sure at the 6 month post op MRI this fall. I'll let everyone know. There's another lady here who just had PRP into her shoulder I think. I dont recall her name offhand. We need to get a focus team on this. Its the latest therapy without enough known.😌🙏
