Can I Reduce My Own Methotrexate Dosage?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My physician assistant does not agree that the arthritis meds: Methotrexate, Remicade are causing the high fatigue.

Thanks for your response. I'm trying to locate another rheumatologist. A 2nd opinion would be wise, should have before I started biologics.

I hope you get some answers. Strange he said it wasn’t from the AS because that was one of my symptoms. I had fatigue like none other. My Rheumatologist said it was because my body was in overdrive dealing with the decease and pain.

Hi SLee 👋 - I've been on methotrexate since July 2023. I didn't have fatigue until I started taking that plus Remicade infusions. The PA now tells me the fatigue isn't from the methotrexate or biologic, or AS. must be something else causing it. So I went to MD who did blood work and found nothing, suggested it's the meds. I feel I need to do something, so I went down to 2 pills of methotrexate instead of 3 and see how I feel. I'm also going to get a 2nd opinion, arthritis specialist.
Thanks for responding.

I had high fatigue before I started methotrexate just from the AS itself. It was actually one of my symptoms. It was after the medication started working that I could sit down without falling asleep. Have you been on the medication for long?
