Shoulder “gas” Bubble - Does Anyone Else Feel This?
My right shoulder seems to have a new trick…and the only way I can describe it is a very sharp pain, but it feels like there’s a gas bubble inside the joint. And it will stay there for quite a while. My kids think I’m crazy. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, but it almost feels like when the aspirate the joint to remove fluid. Does anyone else have this happen or am I special?
@A MySpondylitisTeam Member - you are definitely special 🤗. Anything to do with the joint I think it’s safe to point the finger at AS. I’ve had severe pain in my shoulders. I had a thoracic X-ray & was diagnosed with Kyphosis but that doesn’t mean that’s what’s go on with you. I would definitely call your Rheumatologist or Pain doc and request a thorax X-ray and go from there.
You may want to try soaking in an Epsom salt bath. I also do ice then heat, pain oils, CBD Cream. You may want to look up gentle stretches for thoracic spine. I go to a Myofascial Therapist that has helped me more out of anything or anybody.
I hope you find some relief. Shoulder pain is special 😤
You might look into the possibility that you have a torn rotator cuff. You will need to get a MRI of the joint to determine if that is the cause. I have had rotator cuff repairs on both shoulders, two screws in the right shoulder and one screw in my left shoulder. The screws were used to bring the muscle tendons back to the bone so they could then reattach to the bone. My left shoulder has had a great post surgery out come. Even though during the surgery the doctor noted my left biceps tendons were in pristine condition. Several years later the long head tendon tore completely away from the bone. My right shoulder didn't have the same results long term as I am right handed and as a maintenance mechanic I put to much post surgery use with heavy lifting and lots of wrenching on bolts to remove and reinstalled them. It caused me to tear them away from the bone again. I will most likely need a right shoulder reverse joint replacement SA it has developed lots of bone spurs that will eventually reduce range of motion and lots of pain. I am 68. But still can't get a AS diagnosis. Just rheumatoid arthritis with fibromyalgia. My back is a real mess with severe degenerative disc disease from the base of my skull to my tail bone. L4-L5 are so close together they barely have enough room to do a steroid injection in the joint space. I also have a big problem with fatigue.
I've had 5 joints replaced. Both PIP thumbs joints are fused, L4/5 Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion that has not fused, 6 years now. Lastly,Bilateral TMJ joints replaced. Finally got in to see Doc at Johns Hopkins. I thought osteoarthritis but no, Doc said it's all related to A.S.
