Yes I was approved for disability some years ago and it took me 2 1/2 years to get it. 2 tries, 1 appeal with a lawyer. (some people are approved on the first try).
It was the hardest fight of my life. But worth hearing the judge tell me in court that very day, that she was going to approved it, and I'll get a letter in the mail in about 14 business days.
EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT. I would suggest anyone who's applying. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, have good medical records, a CONSISTENT PAIN JOURNAL. ( where it be work, home, grocery shopping, cleaning, bathing etc). Most Importantly, be truthful and let your medical records speak for itself.
If you get denied, don't be afraid to appeal. Be patience and wait for your day in court.
I'm sorry it this is to much information. "I'm just sharing my experience, and all cases are not the same."

I was approved for disability, and surprisingly on my first try, they did make me talk to a psycologist. Though I didn't get approved just bc of my back, I had one kidney removed bc of cancer. While I was healing, my other kidney got infected bc my doc didn't belive the report stating I had a mild case of hydronephrosis. It wasn't treated and by the second month not being treated I was in ER again with the bad kidney, severe back pain and 102 degree fever. I was admitted to the hospital for 1 1/2 weeks. The 2 more weeks at home iv antibiotics. To disability, they have me as End Stage Chronic Kidney Disease with severe back problems.

Yes, some people have been approved for disability benefits for spondylitis. Here are a few insights from MySpondylitisTeam members:

- One member reported being among the fortunate few to receive approval during the first round: “I went to their doctors after they wanted me to, and eight months later, I got my first check for SSDI.”
- Another member shared that they had to get a disability lawyer who worked on a contingency basis and won the case for them.

It's important to note that the approval process can be lengthy and challenging, with only 21 percent of applicants being approved on their first attempt between 2009 and 2018.
