@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Hi SM, I just read your profile treatments and symptoms section. Reads to me like your type of Spondylitis may actually be Psoriatic Spondylitis, a less common form of Psoriatic arthritis and a little bit different from Ankylosing Spondylitis. It's a soft tissue surrounding the exterior of the joints first arthritis. Tendonitis ligaments and cartilage inflammation as well as dactylitis are common hallmarks of this one. Eventually the external inflammation can move into the joints. An nr-axSpa diagnosis is actually a blessing depending on how you choose to react to it. It means damage has not yet occurred to your spine. This can be turned around and put into full remission before it advances to significant spine and joint damage. It requires a multi-modal approach and takes time to reverse on a cellular level. Ive done a lot of research the past several years. You can muddle through my posts under the updates section of my wall. Better than that, however, I highly recommend the Zonia app. It's dozens of short clips from many different types if drs and health professionals that explain how chronic disease happens and what can be done to put it into remission. Zonia allows one week free review, you need to pay $120 for a year, but they will refund it within a week if you decide a wholistic approach is not your thing. I am not affiliated with the company, i just downloaded it for myself and listen to the clips daily, following along etc. If you do decide to look into it, i recommend starting with their docuseries Unbroken Decoding Autoimmunity. It's everything I do and have found works better than the meds and invasive procedures. However, it takes time, 3-4 months of consistent commitment before you'll notice results. And every time i go off my supplements and diet for whatever reason it all starts over again. That's about how long it takes any treatment to work, 3-4 months, because healing begins on the molecular level. Just as it takes a long time for toxins to accumulate to the point we notice the ill affects, it takes a long time to cleanse our bodies and stop the cellular signalling that sets off the inflammation cascade. I hope you find a way to heal yourself in the New Year SM. Reach out anytime. Yours in better health, PšŸ˜ŒšŸŽ‰

My blood test was negative for the HLA-B27 gene. I was diagnosed with nr-axSpa once they ruled out pretty much everything else.

Yes, it is possible to have ankylosing spondylitis (AS) without having the HLA-B27 gene. While HLA-B27 is strongly associated with AS, not everyone with the gene develops the condition, and some people without the gene can still have AS.
