@DavidDickson-Sudden withdrawal from Prednisone or other steroids would put you at risk for ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY! DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR MED UNTIL YOU HAVE TALKED TO YOUR DOCTOR AND HAVE STARTED A GRADUAL TAPERING OFF PROTOCOL! Look up Adrenal Glands, Cortisol and Prednisone. It will give you an explanation and the answers you need to know why! May God Bless you and give you wisdom!πŸ™πŸ»

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Prednisone is my "crack" too. I love it and have been debating going back on it the past few days. I had to go off it for a stem cell transplant 7+ weeks ago. Steroids and Nsaids wipe out stem cell activity that is said to have "reset" capability of stabilizing the body's over production of inflammatory molecules. Inflammation must be present for stem cells to work. I had them taken from my abdomen and injected into torn tendon in my hip. It's taking it's sweet time and the process was so hard on my body (liposuction is the harvest method) that every single joint and tendon from waist down on both sides are in full clench mode that i can barely move. Yep, definitely wanting my prednisone.
Regarding how long it's safe to be on, that depends on the condition you're treating. Keep in mind that every time you go on it, it interferes with your entire endocrine system. You are at greater risk of not just bleeding in excess, internally too, but also of tearing soft tissue in your body. And every time you go off youll probably flare as your body resets. The only condition that i have heard of it being prescribed long term is for Temporal Arteritis. That's a low dose of 5-10mg daily for years.
I have found consuming multiple high antioxidant fresh produce and spice as well as antioxidant supplements helpful with daily inflammation. It takes a good 3 to 4 months of regular daily intake before you'll notice improvements. I posted what i take in the treatments section on my wall as well as several posts about a year ago. Happy Holidays to you David, PπŸ™πŸ˜ŒπŸŽ„πŸ₯³
