Dactylitis, Anyone With This Condition, Does It Ever Resolve On Its Own?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

This is a Psoriatic arthritis symptom. I have Psoriatic Spondylitis, a less common form of Psoriatic arthritis. I'm just this past week having my first experience with dactylitis in my primary thumb, feels like it has been smashed with a hammer and is twice the size it normally is. Topical voltaren gel and copper fit glove has helped some, but wondering if it ever goes away.

Well...Voltaren topical does fairly decent job at it without side affects that I have noticed. And copper fit gloves are helpful for gripping. While not perfect, it could be worse. And whenever I'm not satisfied with the current state of affairs on my health, I consider what I've done to get to that state and make the necessary changes. Afterall, there's almost always a dietary and/or lifestyle culprit that causes it. Sometimes we cannot undo our previous choices. For that all we can do is be greatful for having had the opportunity to do or eat what we did and find solace in the pleasurable experience we once could indulge in. Time to pay the piper as the saying goes....

Stupid AI cant differentiate the tone of a message just because one word is mentioned. They should call it "Artificial Ignorance" instead. 😁

Mimi10 I do believe that you and I were cut out of the same mold. I will be 70 in September and I started this painful journey when I was 13 years old. I remember the Osteopath had me coming in every 6 months for steroid injections in my back. Back then I don't think that much was known about AS.

I did the ice, heat,Voltatian, hot showers, ended up having surgery because my thumb locked in position...and had carpal tunnel and one other forgotten thing. Not sure what caused it but the pain woke me up and went to neuro doc ,he decided to do surgery, now I can move the hand and thumb freely!!! So I did the strengthening exercises after and built my strength back up, now it is pain free.Yes I know your not a big surgery person but when it is bad enough without getting better sometime you have yo give in... prayers for you

I am sorry to hear you all ate having to struggle with this. It sounds very difficult. I hope you can find solutions and relief. It would be so great if they could create meds that would solve these issues with zero side effects. If only, if only...
