Pain and Spondylitis: How To Manage Symptoms Read Article...

They are all separate diagnoses, but closely overlap symptoms. I think it's just a matter of the diagnosing doctor's past professional experience and can change among the doctors. I have the same diagnosis as Trent, but slightly different name in the records, Psoriatic Spondylitis axial peripheral bilateral. Typically a form of Spondylitis is the diagnosis if the spine is the greatest disease activity. If psoriasis is also involved, its usually Psoriatic Spondylitis. However, there are many on this site with Ankylosing Spondylitis the diagnosis even though they also have psoriasis. Sometimes drs use the presence of the HLA-B27 gene the determining factor for an Ankylosing Spondylitis diagnosis. Yet there are many without this gene who have AS. Thentruly definitive beyond any doubt distinction for AS is a spine which has self fused. That is the coup de gras for the truest definition for "Ankylosis". RA does not begin in the soft tissue of the joints. It begins in the bony tissue. At least thats what my lay lady reading has revealed. Psoriatic disease begins in the soft tissue then moves into the bony tissue. Its a connective tissue issue where the tendons, ligaments, and cartilage connect to the joints.

But, then, does it matter that much? No. The treatments are largely all the same. Most affective, diet and movement. Most debatable, meds to help. Most frustrating, doctors who rush through the diagnosis and treatment plan, often getting it wrong and missing important considerations.

How's the dietary improvements coming along Anna?

Psoriatic arthritis and AS can have very similar symptoms. I have alot of the issues involved with a.s. but have psoriasis so I'm diagnosed psa axial/spine involved.

Morning Pitac thank you for all your feedback on here definitely appreciate it. I agree with you in the fact when your time with physician is less than 15min in the room because he/or she needs to move on to see next patient schedule overload your given so much information that they themselves miss important facts and treatments. Each patient should have an alotted time slot of 30min but because of corporate greed they see on average 100-120 per day instead of just 60. Crazy!!!! $$$$$$
