Rebounder

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone with AS used a rebounder for exercise? I’m considering doing so. I understand you have to start real slow, not even lifting your feet. I’ve heard it can helpful for health. Thoughts? Experience?

I have five bulging discs. A herniated disc and a talov cyst and L3and4 cyst equally 35 mm of spinal fluid cysts.
And left leg has lymph nodes ripped out because of cancer. So I bought a rebounder , aka mini trampoline.
At first you are stiff. Your ankles feel tight and your neck hurts. But my groin area where my lymph nodes were ripped out they felt better and I don’t walk with a limp on either leg .
So I kept doing it.
I also go to swimming pool and do exercises in the water. You are more buoyant. Feel good.
Try it.

Thank you for your reply. hmmmm. Did you start slow and gentle? not even lifting your feet? your reply make sense, but I'm so tempted to try. There is so little I can do for exercise that doesn't hurt. Housework, gardening, I tried a Fitness for Seniors class - even that had too many 'repetitive' motions; but movement is so crucial. I'm in Michigan. This will help me in the winter and our hottest days of summer. I'll keep you posted.

Hi There 👋 I bought mine back in 2022, was so excited and then was told not to use it due to my condition at that time....which is now worse today, so there it sits. I did try it back then & it did hurt - doc was right - sometimes I have bad listening skills. It's a great excerise & does wonderful cleansing for your body. (lymphs) It's actually used by NASA to help train the bodies of astronauts - interesting Google read. I'm soon to return to PT, and will try for it once again since my AS diagnosis in April this year. I really want to do this, and it's an easy one for my asthma to deal with too. I live in AZ, so any indoor exercise during our summers is a blessing. Keep me posted if you start - hoping for healthier days ahead!
