My white count is below 500 and I'm on methotrexate by injection and my hematologist thinks that it could be caused by the methotrexate but ive been on this medication for 2 years and I never had this happen any advice

It's a cumulative affect that builds over time and does not correct quickly. You can help boost white blood cells by consuming dark chocolate daily, just an ounce ir two, not a lot. Chocolate is high in oxalates and can increase your risk for kidney stones if your prone so be careful. Drink extra water with a little lemon at least one of those glasses to keep kidneys clear. Just sharing from recent personal experience with it all. My pcm had me consult a Hematologist at the local Cancer center about it. That's where I learned.β˜ΊοΈπŸ™

Can happen anytime with all immune suppressing medications. Neutrophils were the first to go on me while trying biologics. Neutrophils are white blood cells responsible for fighting infections like bronchitis and sinus infection. Neutropenia is the low neutrophils condition. After having this twice in less than 3 months last fall/winter along with declining red blood cells, and increasingly elevated liver enzymes leading to NAFLD without being a drinker, I quit the biologics experiment. DMARDS like methotrexate are base line chemotherapy drugs. They will all decrease white counts eventually. Side affects to everything should always be weighed against the benefits. For me, I had no arthritis relief so I quit all of that. Now I manage well with antioxidant supplements, diet and physical/rehab therapy on a regular basis.
