I'm New To This. Can You Get Bone Fusion In Your Neck ? Can You Get Diagnosed In Your 70's ?

I am the youngest of 9 kids in my family. I'm the only one diagnosed with this (by xray at 58). You can have this without the gene correct ? My brother in his 70's and has fusion in his neck. I'm confused. So they think it is dish. She says he will not get it this late ?
