Dose Anyone Know If The Rib Issues That Come Along With Akalosing Spondylitis Happen Only At The Back

I fell in may of last year and broke a rib and finally in November I finally started getting better or so I thought and im a recent diagnosis of this this disease and was wondering because if I'm fairly active and even sometimes when I'm not my ribs will start hurting and on both sides and I have had an xray to confirm that the rib fracture is healed

Sorry, rib pain/inflammation is awful. My ribs always feel bruised, and pop out of place right under my collar bone. My ribs become very stiff when inactive, and I have extreme pain in my ribs and chest when lifting anything more than a few lbs. Then it hurts if I take a deep breath, yawn, cry or cough. It feels like my connective tissues are not holding up and keeping things in place anymore, It's really bizarre and random symptoms.I also have some bony overgrowth in a few chest ribs.🤗

From personal experience my wraps around all the way to my sternum. I also have scoliosis and it pinches my ribs on the side that bothers me the most.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can affect the ribs and other bones that make up the chest, not just the back. The fusion of spinal sections often leads to a rounding of the spine, called kyphosis, which can cause the rib cage to stiffen and make it more difficult for the chest to expand properly while breathing. Many people with AS experience costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage in the ribs, which can cause chest pain that can be mistaken for cardiovascular problems.

Totally normal. I used to have a rib that was so sore I couldn't even touch my side.
