Does Anyone Have Suggestions For Tips/tricks For People On Biologics Who Are Having Sleep Issues?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Son is on biologics (immuno-suppressor) for the AS. Melatonin, dream water, some sleeping meds all have warnings against use with immuno-suppressors.
He's tried staying up all night, short naps, etc with limited success. Now going on 3 days of minimal sleep which just amps up the discomfort.

Any ideas would be great

I never heard about contraindications for biologics and melatonin but I will look into it. I did hear recently that melatonin is not something you should take long term so I stopped. I had and do track my sleep quality with my Apple Watch/phone. I have increased my sleep overall an hour. And the quality of my sleep is better. I think bc the melatonin helped me get to sleep but not stay asleep. Same for CBD. This is just my experience…I have AS btw. I hope you find a solution!

I am on Tizanadine. I take it at night because it makes you very tired. When it wears off I wake up, sometimes, with spasms. It works well. Best of luck to you.

Many thanks Sally! It's a matter of him getting to sleep right now. He was just reading the bottle which caused him some concern.

My doctor has me on Cyclobenzaprine, 10mg., 2 tablet a day, muscle relaxant. I also take Clonazepam, 1 mg, 3 times a day for anxiety. Gabapentin for neuropathy or seizures. I do use the CBD oil for under your tongue. Really helps with anxiety. I listen to Contemporary Christian music all night long, helps me sleep. Best wishes to you and your son.
May God bless you, 🕊️ ❣️
