I am so sorry your in such bad pain constantly. As someone who has an Anterior/Posterior L4-L5 fusion with spinous plating, I highly highly advice against it. My surgery was done on 10/04/2016, I remember the exact day as it was the beginning of a never ending nightmare more or less. I was told oh this is the best option for you and let me tell you they were completely wrong. If I was able to go back in time I would never have done the fusion. Also if it was even possible I would have it removed. I do want to clarify that after the initial surgery and the infection I got from the front incision started to heal, I felt so much better. Though that was not the case after about 1.5 years. I am now in more excruciating pain then I ever was before the surgery was done. The surgeries themselves also start causing any disc's etc.. above and below to start getting worse and cause them to progress in a negative way much faster. I have a Neurosurgeon now who just monitors my spine, but they told me that the screws/pins are all improperly placed and I have issues in the fusion area now that can not be corrected. I do also want to mention I also had a C5-C6 full disc replacement done with a Mobi-C implant. That surgery also was amazing for a few years but now I have every disc in my neck that is bad and now require a Fusion of my entire C-Spine. I refuse to do it though as I will no longer be able to drive, my head will be fixated and they said it will start to make my Thoracic spine deteriorate as well. Anytime you have metal placed in your spine anywhere it will cause other things to go wrong just leaving you way worse off, then if you had just left it alone. I do on the other hand have a spinal cord stimulator. It is the SCS one made by Abbott and I would get that again and again. That is the only thing that has helped me with any pain relief along with my pain medications and muscle relaxers etc... I would definitely do your own research though but as stated before there is 1 in every few hundred that seem to work out. Also if you have Ankylosing Spondylitis it is not recommend ro begin with to have surgery as far as I know from Doctors who specialize in Ankylosing Spondylitis. Hope this helps and you start to feel way better. If you have any other questions though please feel free to message me.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. Elizabeth is whose story I think about every time I think about spine surgery. Gary, I have 9 herniated discs and 6 nerves in stenosis. If there is a therapy in existence I do it regularly, all of them. I haven't heard/read of anyone who gets pain free with surgery. Improvement stories are rare, 1 out of 100 say they are happy they did it and all of those are younger patients and/or their surgeries were not very long ago. Elizabeth's nightmare can happen to any of us.nive read others too who have had screws come undone after the surgery is healed over. Unless you are losing basic bodily function such as bowel/bladder control, inability to walk at all, inability to talk, difficulty breathing, you're better off without surgery on your spine. Even then, ifbyou can get a doctor of Physical Therapy to show you the right exercises, you can regain control and significantly reduce pain without meds. I did it. It took 3 years of daily work, but I regained bladder control, mobility yo walk more than 20 feet, and ability to hold conversation. My disease pain and symptoms were that bad, I've been recommended a 6 level neck and a 4 level lumbar fusion. No f-ing way. Now I'm 75% back to me without any of that garbage.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. When I first read your pleas a few months ago in the middle of the night, my words to you were two: "Morgan and Morgan". They are a medical malpractice nationwide firm that advertises taking care of people just like you. They can't fix your back, but they can likely get you the funds you need to get someone who might be able to and, at the very least, get you the care you need and deserve.

My ❤️ hurts for you ! I believe I uploaded of what 3 Surgeons did to me? I had only a Cyst @ L5/L4 ! He took large rib cutters to my Sacrum broke it put a plate in & refused to see me ? I was told after a 2nd Surgery & 4 months later what was wrong? Now metal Toxicity because I had an analysis of what metal was in me Titanium like they say nope , about 8 different metals? I am bent completely over because all the metal & screws are broken & breaking and I can’t find a surgeon to save me ? The Cyst I was told was deep & still there after Surgery #3 ! It’s sad my family threw me away like trash ? So I’m completely alone? I need a Surgeon & don’t know what to do ? I am not able to live like this much longer & it’s sad ! I don’t know? If I had only never trusted that 1st Surgeon? Statistics show have 1 piece of metal in your back over a 70% chance of a Second Surgery? So please get a second opinion! Putting Metal in a human is a Multi Billion dollar business ??? Are bodies start fighting it because it’s foreign to the body! No meds help me anymore nothing helps except Surgery! All broken and no one will help me? I wish you the best for you!
Thanks & I apologize for venting I am in the Hospital at this moment and will not give me what I was taking @ home for some pain relief but nope I have to suffer until my potassium goes up ? Next time not going anywhere! What will be will be !
