Members overwhelmingly confirmed that cold weather significantly worsens spondylitis pain, with many describing increased joint swelling, stiffness, and recovery periods lasting days after cold exposure. Several members shared that their ideal temperature range falls between 80 and 95 degrees, though some noted that extreme heat in triple digits can also trigger pain, and even those living in warm climates like Phoenix still experience flares during cooler months. A recurring theme was the strategy of staying indoors as much as possible during winter, keeping the body moving, and incorporating fresh herbs, fruit, and increased water intake to help manage symptoms.

100%it is the worse for me. According to my rheumatologist with the autoimmune disease, my cold receptors, for my nerves are activated very easily, which causes the pain.

1000% When I have to go outside it causes my joints to swell and pain that is indescribable. I’m like a cranky bear that goes into Hibernation, and I kinda feel angry when I have to go out. It usually takes me a day or 2 to recover after an outing in the cold! But on the flip side extreme high heat in triple digits does the same! Not Good! My perfect preferred temperature range is from about 80 to 95 degrees! That’s when I feel my best. Seems crazy!🤷🏻‍♀️
